Mission

The Commercial Bureau supports BABM's mission to improve competition in the market by ensuring transparent commercial terms, fair business practices and a balanced relationship between companies, in accordance with the ethic principles of its members.

The Bureau, operated by the BABM team, sees to the implementation of the AIM Principles of Good Business Practice.

The bureau regularly consults with a specialised lawyers’ office in order to act in compliance with competition law at all times.

Objectives

Following documents can be put at the disposal of BABM members:

  • Legal analyses of the various aspects of commercial relations commonly encountered by BABM members, that may serve them as reference material.
  • Legal opinion letters informing members what is acceptable under commercial and trade practices law in typical commercial situations.

Legal reservations

  • BABM never defends single cases but only general practices and general legal obligations. It may however advise its members, in general terms, on legal issues that arise in the sector.
  • Since a great many members of BABM are producing or representing market leader products, BABM is strictly limited in the kind of activities described above; it cannot represent its members in any common action towards third parties, nor can it or will it recommend any common action to its members.
